Music
Next to MMA, I've enjoyed photographing concerts the most. I grew up in a musical family and received none of the talent.
Recently, I was asked to shoot bands coming through the Quad Cities and playing at the Rock Island Brewing Co. They let me into the shows and I give them photos they can use.
The image to the left was taken last summer when Tesla played in The District. In the images below are some heavyweights in their genres. Andre Williams is a 75 year old American R&B legend that has travelled the world playing his particular brand of punk blues since his career started in the 50's.
William Elliott Whitmore is a popular Iowa folk, blues singer that draws a crowd everytime he plays. His sets mostly consist of him on a banjo or guitar while singing.
Anthony Gomes is a Canadian blues/rock guitarist and singer following the tradition of trailblazers like Stevie Ray Vaughn and BB King. I enjoy shooting him because he gets particularly animated during his performances as if he could only hit some notes if he's making crazy faces.
The only local band I included used to practice in my basement 3-4 nights a week. You would think I couldn't stand to listen to them, but they're rockabilly sound is conditioned in me to enjoy. The guys in the band still tell me they think the only reason I moved to Omaha and LA was to get as far from their sound as possible. Nothing could be further from the truth.
